A big shout out to the Pitt County Board of Education. For the second year in a row, school meals will be available at no cost to every Pitt County Schools student following a vote by the Board of Education last week.

The school board agreed to spend $140,000 to make free meals available at D.H. Conley High School, and $75,500 to provide bonuses for PCS School Nutrition employees. The school nutrition employees are often overlooked in pay adjustments because of the source of their funding. They deserve our gratitude for doing their best to help our kids eat healthy and perform well, academically and athletically with the limited resources available to them.
