Kourtney Kardashian Barker is sharing the foods she swears by while breastfeeding.

In a new article on her lifestyle website, Poosh, Kardashian Barker’s nutrition specialist, Leona West Fox, shared the list of foods she instructed the star to eat while breastfeeding her 5-month-old son, Rocky Thirteen, whom she shares with husband Travis Barker.

According to the nutrition specialist, the foods she provided Kardashian Barker, 44, with “support maximum milk supply and your recovery” after childbirth.

Fox separated the recommended foods and ingredients into categories, beginning with grains, which she said are the “ultimate galactagogue,” or food that is believed to support milk production.

She recommended eating amaranth, barley, congees, millet, oats and rice, particularly “for the first six weeks while establishing your milk supply.”

For “liquid meals and snacks,” the specialist suggested bone broth, bone broth stews, kichari and congees — both “sweet and savory.” She also advised consuming “full-fat, grass-fed dairy products,” as well as coconut milk and coconut water.

In a list of “other essential galactagogues,” she included a wide array of vegetables, legumes and spices: almonds, carrots, cumin, fennel, fenugreek, garbanzo beans, grapes, leafy greens, mulberries, nettles leaf tea, papaya, pine nuts, pistachio, saffron, shiitake mushrooms, sweet potatoes, tahini and yams.

The Poosh post also included some of Kardashian Barker’s favorite ways to eat the foods Fox recommends, from snacks to smoothies.

According to the post, “Kourt’s Favorites” include papaya with lime juice, dried mulberries and walnuts, oatmeal made with almond milk, cinnamon and sliced bananas, and “poached eggs with gluten-free organic sesame sourdough, ghee, and Celtic salt.”

As for the mom’s favorite drinks while breastfeeding? She enjoys papaya smoothies and bone broth, which she prefers to “sip” from a tea cup.

The reality star also enjoys steamed almond milk or coconut milk — which she adds cinnamon to — and golden milk lattes, a turmeric beverage, which she prefers with a steamed almond or coconut milk base.

Fox also shared some of the miscellaneous tips she gave Kardashian Barker that she said optimize milk supply and breastfeeding, starting with No. 1: hydration.

“Drink plenty of water,” the nutrition specialist said, noting that it is “as important as what you eat” while breastfeeding.

Also essential are sleep and reducing stress, Fox said, noting that “rest is crucial for milk production” and “high stress levels can reduce milk supply.”

And while snacking as a new mom, make sure you’re doing it regularly, the specialist added.

“Consume meals and snacks on a consistent basis,” Fox said. “During the first three to six weeks postpartum, it’s essential to increase your daily caloric intake by an additional 300 to 600 calories, compared to what you had been consuming during the third trimester.”

“This temporary adjustment is important to establish optimal milk supply,” she added.
