Mediterranean diet a healthy way to reduce diseases – WBTV
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Medical Minute is sponsored by Novant Health.
One way to be healthier is by taking on a Mediterranean diet, said Dr. Philip Lee, a cardiologist at Novant Health Heart and Vascular Institute.
The diet has been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes and certain cancers, Lee said.
“The diet really is a lifestyle, not a specific diet, with a focus on whole foods, fruits, healthy fats, such as nuts, and healthy oils,” Lee said.
Another characteristic is whole proteins and less red meat.
