Three foods have the power to make your skin look younger, expert says – The Mirror

You could keep wrinkles at bay by including three foods in your diet, says nutrition coach Georgi Grogan. As we age, our bodies naturally produce less collagen, leading to less firm and smooth skin.

However, you can slow down this process and retain youthful skin for a longer duration. Georgi Grogan, Nutritional Health Coach and Founder of Sixways, explained to GB News the trio of foods that should be incorporated into your diet for healthier skin.

Georgi’s advice includes consuming fish, nuts and seeds, and vitamin C-rich foods. Georgi pointed out that: “Fish is considered one of the best sources of collagen primarily because it contains a type of collagen known as marine collagen. Marine collagen is derived from the skin, scales and bones of fish and is highly bioavailable, meaning it is easily absorbed and utilised by the body.”

“These amino acids play a crucial role in maintaining skin elasticity, hydration and overall skin health.”

In addition to these, Georgi suggests berries which are full of Vitamin C and antioxidants, adding: “They’re packed with antioxidants and vitamin C which helps to protect collagen from damage while supporting its synthesis.”, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Nuts and seeds make an excellent snack or food additive, according to Georgi who mentions: “Almonds and walnuts provide zinc, copper and other minerals that help to aid collagen formation, encourage hair growth and support glowing skin from within.”

Georgi also warns that refined sugar can trigger a process in your body that harms collagen and elastin – so it’s best to steer clear of food and drinks loaded with processed sugars. He adds that ultra-processed foods, rich in fats and sugars, can ramp up inflammation and lead to ‘the breakdown of collagen’.

Furthermore, Georgi advises against alcohol, which dehydrates the skin and hinders the absorption of essential nutrients.
