Zomato Removes Restaurant 10-year-old Girl Dies After Eating Cake ordered Online for her Birthday – Udaipur Kiran
A 10-year-old girl’s birthday party in Patiala ended in tragedy as she reportedly died due to complications while ordering a cake online. The incident sparked outrage online and raised concerns about the food delivery platform’s rules on cloud kitchens.
According to reports, the family ordered the cake through Zomato on March 24 and the girl and several other family members fell ill soon after eating the cake. The girl then died tragically.
After this incident, Zomato expressed its condolences and took action against this restaurant. “We deeply regret the recent incident in Patiala,” a company spokesperson said. We immediately delisted the restaurant and banned the owner from operating on our platform. We are cooperating fully with law enforcement authorities in their investigation.”
The girl’s grandfather announced the details of the order and pointed out the differences. “The cake was ordered online around 6 p.m.,” he said. “By 11 p.m., everyone who had eaten the cake was sick. We had lost our grandson, but fortunately everyone else had recovered.”
Following this family’s complaint, the police filed a complaint of food poisoning. The bakery’s registered address does not match its actual location, raising concerns about cloud kitchen operations. Additionally, discrepancies in the invoice indicate that the order may have been shipped from a completely different city.
The incident sparked criticism online about the lack of proper regulation of cloud kitchens, particularly food delivery platforms. Many users have questioned the measures taken by Zomato and similar services to ensure the safety and legitimacy of listed sellers.
